A weekly content plan built from your idea bank, with a mid-week nudge
Posting steadily helps a channel grow, and the thing that breaks it isn't ideas, it's the planning, reminders and loose ends around them. A plan that lands on Sunday evening from your own idea bank, plus a Wednesday nudge showing what is still unfinished for Friday, keeps you posting without a mental to-do list.
Set it up
- Create an "Ideas" sheet with columns: idea, format (video, short, newsletter, post), effort (quick, medium, big), status (idea, scripted, filmed, edited, scheduled, posted), and the date it last moved.
- Write your cadence in one short line, for example the number of videos and shorts per week you can really make, and the days you film and edit. That line is the only rule the assistant plans against.
- Create a Sunday 6pm routine that reads the sheet and proposes next week in a "Plan" tab: what to film, edit and post on which day, and which item is at risk because it hasn't moved for two weeks.
- Look at the plan and edit it. Then put the items in your calendar yourself, so you're the one who commits to them.
- Create a Wednesday 5pm routine that emails you a short nudge: what's due by Friday, what's stuck, and the one item to drop if the week is short.
- At month end, ask for what shipped against what was planned, and adjust your cadence line accordingly.
The instructions to give your agent
I am a solo content creator. Each Sunday at 6pm, read my "Ideas" sheet and my cadence line. Propose next week in the "Plan" tab: which ideas to film, edit and post on which days, within my cadence. Mark any item whose status has not changed in 14 days as "At risk". Each Wednesday at 5pm, email me a nudge under 80 words: what is due by Friday, what is stuck, and one item I could drop. Never add or change calendar events and never edit the Ideas sheet; propose changes in the Plan tab. Apart from the Wednesday email to me, send and post nothing. Do not invent ideas that are not in my sheet unless I ask. I decide what I make.
✓ Check before you rely on it
- Check the first plan really fits your week; if it's too ambitious, tighten the cadence line.
- Check "At risk" flags match items you know are stuck.
- Check the Wednesday nudge isn't nagging you about items you've dropped.
- Check nothing was added to or changed in your calendar. Some connectors cannot be limited to read-only, so keep 'never change' in the instruction.
✕ What it will not do
- Post, schedule or publish anything.
- Add or change calendar events.
- Decide what content you make.
- Invent ideas unless you ask.
⏸ Approval gates
- Drafted or flagged for you: the weekly plan, at-risk items, the Wednesday nudge, the month-end review.
- Only you decide: what you make, what goes in your calendar, what's dropped, what's posted.
🔒 Data handling
The sheet contains your own work and plans, plus any collaborator or sponsor names. Keep unreleased deals and embargoed content out of it.
