Have an honest "are you test ready?" conversation in writing
Learners book tests too early because of waiting lists. A clear readiness summary helps them decide, and protects your pass rate.
Steps
- Score the learner yourself on each key skill (e.g. independent driving, junctions, manoeuvres, awareness).
- Run the prompt below.
- Talk it through in person and send the written version after.
The exact prompt
Write a test readiness summary for a [UK] learner driver from their instructor. Under 200 words. My scores (1-5) and notes: [list skills, scores, notes]. Their test date: [date or "not booked"]. Structure: strengths, what still needs work, my honest recommendation [ready / nearly / not yet], plan to get there (number of lessons I suggest). Kind and honest. Don't guarantee a pass. If not booked: remind them to book once we agree they are ready, to choose a date they realistically expect to be ready by, and that they only get 2 changes.
