Build an allergen matrix your team can actually use
The problem
When a customer asks "is there nut in this?", staff need a quick, reliable answer. A clear matrix by the till protects customers and your business.
What AI does
AI lays out the allergen information from your own product labels as a clear table your team can read at the till, and marks any item with missing label information. It never decides what an item contains: you check every entry against the labels.
Time
The steps, in short
- Collect the labels for every product that goes into each menu item.
- Have AI arrange your label information into a table, with gaps clearly marked.
- Check every entry against the physical labels, ideally with a second person, and follow the official allergen guidance for your nation (FSA in England, Wales and Northern Ireland; Food Standards Scotland in Scotland).
- Date it, keep it where staff can see it, and revise it when a recipe or supplier changes.
A short sample prompt
Arrange the label information below into an allergen table for my café, one row per menu item and one column per allergen I list. Copy only what my labels say, do not guess, and write [NO LABEL INFO] where details are missing. Label info: [paste]
