Make a blank notification log and a one-page who-to-contact sheet for allegations of harm, ready before you ever need them (England, childminders)
The problem
The DfE says the 2026 EYFS now requires allegations of "harm" (instead of "serious harm") by anyone living, working or looking after children at the premises to be notified to Ofsted or your childminder agency, and the childminder framework adds that the action you took must also be notified, within the time limit it sets (paragraph 3.11). If it ever happens, you will be under pressure and will not want to be searching for numbers. A blank log and a contact sheet, made in advance from your own details, mean the record is made at the time. AI can set out the blank template and the sheet. It never decides what counts as harm or whether to notify: that is for you, with Ofsted, your childminder agency and your local authority. Do not use AI once a real concern exists.
What AI does
AI lays out a blank notification log and a single-page list of contacts from the contact details you check and enter yourself, ready before you ever need them. If a real allegation arises, AI plays no part: you contact the right bodies directly (England, childminders).
Time
The steps, in short
- Read the relevant part of the official childminder EYFS framework.
- Write down each body's contact details, checked against its official source.
- Have AI lay out a blank log and a contact sheet.
- Keep them where you can find them, and never put a real case into an AI tool.
