Keep a start-date, check and notification record for any assistant or volunteer, so nobody starts before the steps in the 2026 EYFS are done (England, childminders)
The problem
The childminder EYFS effective 1 September 2026 says childminders and any assistants must be cleared as suitable by Ofsted or the childminder agency via the suitability letter before they can begin working in the setting, that enhanced checks are needed for relevant people including volunteers, that assistants must be told what they have to disclose and that no assistant may begin working or volunteering until the check has been received. If you only take on help now and then, the steps are easy to forget between one assistant and the next. A one-line-per-person record, with the order of the steps written down, helps you not to fix a start date too soon. AI can build the record from your own wording; you read the paragraphs and decide who needs what.
What AI does
AI turns your own steps for taking on an assistant or volunteer into a record template, using labels instead of names, so you can see that no one starts before each step is done. You decide who needs what, from the official framework and your regulator (England, childminders).
Time
The steps, in short
- Read the relevant part of the official childminder EYFS framework.
- Write your own steps in order, noting where you must wait for someone else.
- Have AI draft a record template using labels instead of names.
- Check it against the framework, ask your regulator if unsure, and keep the record securely.
A short sample prompt
I'm a registered childminder in England. From my steps below, draft a template for tracking each person's steps, using labels such as [PERSON 1] and not names, with these columns: [your column headings]. No names. Steps: [paste]
