Build a policy review planner from your own list that shows what is due this term and who approves it
The problem
The handbook asks the clerk to keep the statutory policies in the annual cycle with their review periods noted, and to update the planner with each new review date, while warning that many boards drown in policies that are really operational procedures. A planner with each policy, its last approval date, review period, who approves it and the date it falls due, sorted by date, shows what the next agendas need. AI can sort and lay out the list you paste and flag items due within a window you set. It does not decide whether a policy is statutory, who must approve it or when it must be reviewed: you copy that from the current official page or the board's own scheme.
What AI does
AI turns your own policy list into a planner showing what is due for review in the window you choose and who approves each. It decides nothing about which policies are statutory, and you recheck every date (England).
Time
The steps, in short
- Copy your policy list with dates, review periods and approvers, taking the statutory column from the official DfE guidance.
- Take out any personal names.
- Have AI build the planner for the date [date] and the window you choose.
- Recheck every date yourself and agree with the Chair and Headteacher what belongs on the board's agenda.
A short sample prompt
From my policy list below, make a planner showing which policies are due for review between [date] and [date], with the approver for each as listed. Don't decide anything about the policies themselves. List: [paste]
