Turn your board's scheme of delegation into a one-page who-decides-what table, quoting the document's own words
The problem
The handbook says the scheme of delegation is the document a clerk uses most, because it decides what goes on the agendas of the board and its committees, and a clerk is asked procedural questions such as who can vote. A one-page table that lists each decision, who the document says takes it, and where in the document that is said, saves reading a long document at each agenda. AI can extract and tabulate the wording you paste. It must not interpret the document, answer a procedural question or fill a gap: where the document is unclear, the table says so and you ask the Chair, local-authority governor services, the trust's governance lead or a solicitor.
What AI does
AI turns your board's scheme of delegation into a one-page table of who decides what, quoting the document's own words and its section numbers, and lists the points that are unclear. It interprets nothing; unclear points go to the Chair or an adviser.
Time
The steps, in short
- Get the current scheme and terms of reference as text, noting the version date.
- Remove names and keep roles only.
- Have AI build the table and list unclear points.
- Compare each row with the source document, and take unclear points to the Chair, governor services or a solicitor.
A short sample prompt
From my board's scheme of delegation below, build a one-page table showing each decision and who makes it, quoting the document's words and section numbers. List anything unclear separately. Do not interpret. Text: [paste]
