Lay out a termly board and committee calendar from your own annual cycle and the current DfE guide
The problem
The handbook calls an annual cycle of statutory and non-statutory business extremely valuable and gives example checklists, but they date from before DfE's July 2026 updates, and each board's cycle differs between maintained schools, academies and trusts. A calendar that puts each item in a term and says which committee or meeting takes it saves you building the agenda from scratch each time. AI can lay that out from the lists you paste. It cannot decide what is statutory or what your board must cover, so you take the items from the current DfE guide and your own terms of reference and check the result.
What AI does
AI lays out the items you list from your annual cycle and the current DfE guide as a calendar of business for each term, for the board and its committees. It decides nothing about what is statutory or which committee takes an item; you check every line (England).
Time
The steps, in short
- Gather your board's current cycle and the latest official DfE guide that applies to your school.
- List the items you need, each against the meeting or committee that takes it.
- Have AI lay out a termly calendar from your list.
- Check it item by item against both documents, then ask the Chair and Headteacher to look over it.
